The project for the “Ikeda Cultural Center for Peace”, the largest Buddhist center in Europe, reflects a coherent relationship between history and modernity. The monumental complex of Cascina Viscontea “la Guardia di Sopra”, an important historical villa and annexed buildings was restorated for public areas and hospitality, meeting and study places. The new construction includes a place of worship / hall / auditorium for 900 people (1000 sqm) as well as a service building with entrance and foyer (777 sq m). A modern architecture, highly technological from the plant engineering point of view, whose shape symbolically evokes the golden carp, sacred for Buddhist tradition.
